Happy Birthday, America!
The celebration for America’s birthday has always been a fun one, and our holiday hideaways will ensure that it is a comfortable one as well. The tour of these places to stay near Sun Valley, Idaho, begins in the spacious and light-filled living rooms, furnished with plush sofas and comfy chairs, all placed to enjoy perfect views of the televisions that are often mounted above the mantel of the fireplace, offering crystal-clear pictures. If you just aren’t in the mood to head into town to participate in our holiday celebrations, you can watch the national fireworks show on the flat screen TVs, feeling as if you are sitting in the audience of the National Mall, feeling each explosion in your chest!
Holiday Cocktails
Our kitchens truly are the heart of the home, equipped with high end appliances, but it is a holiday and you may not feel like cooking, something we understand 100%. What you may want to do in these spaces, besides sip coffee and eat the pastries you purchased at the Kneadery, 260 N Leadville Avenue in Ketchum, is whip up some very tasty and holiday appropriate July 4th cocktails. Wine refrigerators may hold bottles of wine and cans of beer, but if you have never had a Bomb Pop made with blue curacao, citron vodka, and grenadine or some red, white, and booze popsicles made with layers of Cherry Bomb (a Brazilian beverage), Pina Colada, and Blue Hawaii, can you really say you have celebrated the holiday? Stone counters, custom cabinets, and those modern appliances will give the kitchen a magnetic appeal, but the cocktails you make will ensure that these spaces may end up being your favorite.
Take the Party Outside in Our Cabins Near Sun Valley Idaho
Summers are mild in Sun Valley, offering temperatures that rarely rise above the low 80s, moderate humidity, and more sunny days than not (There is a reason our town is called SUN Valley, after all!), and on July 4th, you may want to bring the party outside. Our places to stay near Sun Valley, Idaho are known for their expansive decks, furnished with everything you need to enjoy a holiday family barbecue or to relax and enjoy the quiet tranquility of your surroundings. You may not have wanted to be chained to the range in the kitchen on this glorious summer day, but grilling burgers on a gas grill is always a good idea, especially when you are able to devour the results of your fiery adventure on long tables that look out onto the Sun Valley landscape. Some properties may offer more ways to play outside, including game tables or outdoor games, and most will provide firepits for additional warmth when the sun drops behind the mountains, taking the temperatures down with it. Daytime temps may be mild and wonderful, but nighttime ones can get more than a bit chilly, with averages falling to about the mid-40s.
Staying in for the Big Night?
We get it, not everyone wants to battle crowds and worry about designated drivers just to see a few fiery explosions in the sky, especially when our summer escapes provide so many reasons to make you want to stay in for the night. And not only is that ok, it is entirely possible that not only will you be able to relax and sip as many of those holiday cocktails as you like, safely and responsibly, you may also be able to watch the show from that deck we just mentioned. Start a fire in the firepit, pour yourself a Bomb Pop, and wait for the fun to begin, or sink into the bubbling depths of the hot tub found under the covered patio or located in the yard open to the stars, and discover what true luxury really is. No, we didn’t forget to mention the hot tub, we just wanted to save the best outdoor amenity for last, leading up to the big moment as you relax and watch the night skies light up with colorful explosions! And if you can’t see the fireworks? There are a billion stars up there all twinkling brightly, and although they aren’t as colorful, they will add a special shine to your holiday night at home.
4th of July Activities
Not every traveler is a homebody, however, and if you are looking for some outside excitement you may be surprised to learn that our small mountain town offers plenty of it during this wonderful holiday. The Baldy Bluebird Music Festival is a new holiday event that made its debut in 2024, and so much fun was had, we are hoping that it will be around for years to come. Offering two days of music, food, and fireworks extravaganzas at the end of each night, this event is exactly what our town needed to move it to the next level of wonderful. The nearby town of Hailey, however, offers an old fashioned 4th of July celebration that includes their Day’s of the Old West Rodeo, Hailey Day’s of the Old West 4th of July Parade, and of course, their own fireworks celebration that will be a memorable part of your holiday celebration. The parade has always been one of our favorite parts of the holiday, yes, we love it more than we love fireworks, but it is a very close competition!
After the Last Note Has Played and the Final Spark Has Fallen to the Earth
Under normal circumstances, the end of the celebration is often a moment to be mourned, but in the back of your mind, you will be jumping with joy, knowing that the most comfortable beds in the state of Idaho are waiting for you at home. Maybe you will have one last glass of wine, sitting on the deck and listening to the sounds of the night, sounds that are much quieter now that the big booms have ended. Maybe you will run a hot bath, slipping into deep tubs with a beverage and a book in hand and soft music playing in the background. Or maybe it will be straight to bed for you, those beds you have been thinking about all evening inviting you to slide between the bedcovers, lay back against the pillow, and fall into a deep and refreshing sleep. There is no wrong way to fall to sleep, just many glorious options, and when you wake up the next morning feeling rested and ready for more Idaho adventures, you will know that you made the right choice.
